Dives Never Seem Long Enough!
It’s the last dive of your trip. You’ve reached the point in your dive where you have to start your ascent and begin your safety stop. This is exactly the time when that manta ray you’ve been wanting see enters your line of sight. Certainly, you don’t want to exceed your no decompression limits. It appears you’ll have to view it from afar and take images that will just turn out blue. Wouldn’t it be great to have a little more time to hang out with that manta ray? With nitrox you could have stayed down longer and snapped that fantastic image you would have shared with everyone.
Nitrox Lets You Stay Down Longer
Nitrox is a diving gas that has increased oxygen and decreased nitrogen in the mix. By reducing the nitrogen that enters our tissues we are able to extend our bottom times.
More Repetitive Dives
When you are diving nitrox you can dive more often. Again, one of the major limiting factors in diving is nitrogen. With less nitrogen in your body your surface intervals are shortened. This means, you can turn those 2-tank boat dives into 3-tank boat dives! More, and longer, dives is what every diver wants. This is why, the PADI Enriched Air Diver course is the most popular course after getting Open Water certified.
How Your Enriched Air “Nitrox” Diver Course Works
During your Nitrox course you’ll learn more about the effects of diving air with higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content. Also, you’ll find out which equipment is suitable for nitrox diving and why. During some hands-on training you’ll practice analyzing the oxygen content in your tank. Then, we’ll show you how to work with the gas settings on a dive computer.
The Enriched Air Diver course does not require any dives. However, if you would like to use this course towards your Advanced Open Water certification you will perform two dives on nitrox with an Instructor.
