How Your Advanced Open Water (AOW) course works
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to help you build confidence, expand your skills, and gain more real-world diving experience. The program includes five open water Adventure Dives, two of which are required: Deep and Underwater Navigation. These dives introduce you to the key concepts and techniques used in their respective specialty areas.
The remaining three dives are elective, allowing you to tailor the course to your interests. Options include Fish Identification, Boat Diving, Altitude Diving, Drift Diving, Sidemount Diving, Search and Recovery, Wreck Diving, and many more. Talk to your instructor about which dives are available at your training location.
Each Adventure Dive may be applied as credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course. Divers who have already completed specialty training are encouraged to consult their Lone Star Scuba Instructor to determine whether prior experience qualifies for Adventure Dive credit.
