Do you know how and when to provide oxygen?

We divers like to be prepared for everything. We want to ensure we have a safe and enjoyable underwater adventure. Sometimes, the unexpected happens. Being able to respond to these situations in the correct manner can help keep a situation from becoming dangerously serious. The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider teaches you to recognize scuba diving illnesses treatable with emergency oxygen. Also, you’ll learn how to offer aid should one of those situations ever arise.

Emergency Oxygen Provider

Why Emergency Oxygen Provider Is Important

Oxygen is the primary first aid given for scuba related injuries. It is used in the treatment of decompression sickness and arterial gas embolisms. You know, all those things you learned about at the beginning of your scuba life in your Open Water course! Most divers get their CPR / First aid certifications and just slightly touch on the uses of emergency oxygen. Your Emergency O2 course goes deep into emergency oxygen mechanics and uses. Furthermore, you'll get hands-on experience on how to administer oxygen in the aid of diving maladies.

How Your Emergency O2 Provider Course Works

During your course, you will learn about dive injuries and the uses of oxygen for first aid. Also, you’ll learn about the different types of oxygen equipment and safety considerations needed when using oxygen. Then, you will practice assembling and disassembling emergency oxygen equipment. You’ll get experience deploying a non-rebreather mask and a demand inhalator valve on a breathing diver. Finally, you’ll learn how to use a pocket mask on a non-breathing diver.
