Diving can be more than exploring the shallow reefs off a Caribbean island. Oftentimes, even those shallow reefs require more skill to maneuver than what you learned in your core scuba classes. Many of the recreational dives we like to do involve currents, have shipwrecks or are best performed at night. This is why specialty scuba courses came to be. A scuba specialty will focus on a very specific type of diving and skill. Maybe you want to stay down longer, have better air consumption or learn to take better underwater images. Perhaps you’re interested in different equipment configurations and understanding how your gear works. Or, learning about identifying what you see underwater and how to preserve it is your thing. Whatever it may be, we offer diving specialties to meet the needs of many different divers.
How Diving Specialties Work
Specialty courses vary on the amount of classroom, confined water and open water training required. Many specialties can be obtained with just a couple of dives while others, such as PADI Deep Diver, require four dives over a couple of days. Once you have decided on the type of diving you would like to learn next just come by the shop and we can get you started. Below is a list of all the specialty courses we currently offer. Some specialty dives are a bit difficult to do here in Texas, like the PADI Ice Diver course. If you don't see the course you're looking for we can guide you to the best place to take it.
