So you’re looking to get your scuba certification here in landlocked Fort Worth, Texas. Why not become an Open Water Scuba Diver before your big trip? Certainly, you don’t want to use your valued vacation time taking classes? We make it easy for you to learn to scuba dive locally and it takes just to weekends to get your certification!

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the beginning of your underwater adventure! Imagine watching countless fish on a tropical reef as you glide weightlessly below the surface. Your newly earned scuba certification is your ticket to worldwide underwater exploration.

How Your Scuba Class Works

In the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver course, our instructors will take you through all the basics of learning how to dive. First, you start in the classroom at Lone Star Scuba in Fort Worth, both on Saturday and Sunday mornings. During the classroom portion, you will be introduced to the equipment and practical knowledge needed to safely enjoy your new sport. After the classroom portion it’s time to get in the water! Next, you will spend the afternoon on both days in a heated indoor Junior Olympic pool, not a tiny in-store pool. The pool is where you will learn and practice the basic skills of scuba diving.

Finally, after you have completed the classroom portion and confined water (pool) portion of the course, you will proceed to the following weekend’s open water check out dives. Where we hold these dives is highly dependent on visibility and water temperature. For this reason, we have many dive parks to choose from to afford you an enjoyable diving experience. You are required to do four open water dives but PADI only allows for three training dives a day. So, we split the check out dives up over both days.

Once you have completed the classroom, confined water and open water dives you will be PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certified! You will receive a certification card, a diver’s license if you will, that will allow you to dive all over the world using your brand new scuba skills.
